What is Namitatsu?
The Namitatsu brand represents a fusion between surfing and peace which is what Namitatsu literally means in Japanese. Surfing came to Japan from America in the 1960s. However, if there were surfers in the Edo period (1603-1868), what would they have worn? In answer to this simple question, Namitatsu brings ancient Japanese designs to current styles. We are offering a new surfing style for Japan.

Product Details
1.
Using the hand painting technique from the Kyo Yuzen textile tradition, we make modern versions of traditional Japanese designs. Since each pair of jeans is hand painted, each one is slightly different and you can enjoy comparing them. Another feature is our use of 3D illustrations that look like fabric used in Kimonos. We use traditional colors as a base and grade the colors using a taping technique.
*Each pair of hand painted jeans is made to order.

2.
Namitatsu denim was created in Kurashiki city, Okayama prefecture which is known in the denim industry as the highly regarded Japanese denim mecca.
Kurashiki Denimu including each different thin lines (which looks like the beard),
old color faded texture, worn out and fray, which has been nourished for years.
The more you wear it, the more it becomes a unique craftmanship work of art.

You are welcome to try on anything you like. You are always welcome at Namitatsu - The Flag. Come and enjoy mix and matching our Japanese designs.
At the Breakthrough Ryogoku Showroom, where the Namitatsu brand was started, you can find samples of our new products, the concept behind our various product lines, and the story of how they went from concept to real products.
